Exploring Petra

The Siq

My first encounter with Petra was through the Siq, a narrow gorge that leads into the ancient city. As I walked this mystical path, the anticipation of what awaited at the end was palpable.

The Treasury

Emerging from the Siq, the Treasury (Al-Khazneh) appeared like a vision from a dream, carved directly into the sandstone cliffs. This iconic facade, one of Petra's most recognized sights, was even more stunning in person.

The Monastery

A hike up 800 steps led me to The Monastery (Ad Deir). The effort was rewarded with panoramic views and a sense of isolation, as if I had stepped back in time.

The Royal Tombs

Exploring the Royal Tombs, I marveled at the intricate carvings and the sheer scale of these ancient structures, revealing the wealth and power of the Nabataean civilization。

The High Place of Sacrifice

A challenging climb up the High Place of Sacrificeoffered not only a physical challenge but also a spiritual one, with the vastness of the desert surrounding me.

Petra by Night

Petra by Night, with its candle-lit path and traditional Bedouin music, was a magical experience, highlighting the city's mystical charm.

Into the Wilderness of Wadi Rum

The Desert Beckons

Leaving Petra, the next chapter of my journey unfolded in Wadi Rum, often referred to as the "Valley of the Moon." The stark beauty of this desert, with its towering rock formations and vast expanses of sand, was unlike anything I had ever seen.

Camping Under the Stars

Our G Adventures group set up camp in the heart of Wadi Rum, where the desert's silence and the clarity of the night sky were the true stars of the show. The Wadi Rum Desert was the perfect place for star gazing in Jordan.

Starry Skies and Bedouin Tales

As night fell, the sky transformed into a canvas of stars. Lying on the sand, listening to Bedouin folklore and tales of desert life, was an experience of pure tranquility and wonder.

Exploring the Desert by Jeep

We explored more of Wadi Rum on a jeep safari, driving through the dunes and stopping at various points of interest, including Lawrence's Spring and Khazali Canyon.

Hiking and Camel Trekking

Hiking through the desert and camel trekking provided a closer look at the unique rock formations, ancient inscriptions, and the serene landscape of Wadi Rum.
